Back Number [December 2024 Newsletter] Regarding Measures Against Window Condensation

We will introduce the causes and countermeasures regarding window condensation.

Causes of Condensation Occurrence Air has a limit to the amount of water vapor it can hold (saturation vapor capacity) depending on the temperature, and when this limit is exceeded, excess water vapor turns into water droplets. Condensation occurs on residential windows due to the temperature difference between the inside and outside; warm air is cooled near the window glass, causing the moisture in the air to condense into water droplets. What happens if condensation is left untreated? - It can cause mold and dust mites If condensation is left untreated, there is a possibility of mold developing on window frames, curtains, and wallpaper. For example, if black mold develops around the window, every time the window is opened and closed, black mold will scatter throughout the room, leading to health issues. - It can cause corrosion and negatively affect the home If condensation is left as is, it can lead to the corrosion of wallpaper, walls, and flooring materials. This is particularly concerning in wooden houses, as if the wood continues to absorb the moisture from condensation, it will become brittle and shorten the lifespan of the house. Measures to Prevent Condensation - Use the bathroom or laundry room for indoor drying - Regularly ventilate the air - Promote air circulation - Choose heating methods that facilitate drying - Replace with high-insulation glass - Install double windows (inner windows)
